The two Jims, Mardis and Edmiston, have traded ASA Stock Pony main event wins all season long.  Saturday night it was Jimmy Mardis’ turn.  After contact with Yucaipa’s Robby Hornsby early in the 35 lap main event, both cars were sent to the rear of the line-up.  They quickly made their way back towards the front and engaged in a fierce battle for fourth place. Fifteen  laps into the race, 2007 champion Jim Edmiston took the lead but traded it back and forth with Wildomar’s Matt Goodwin.  After contact between Goodwin and Hornsby sent them to the pits during caution, Mardis was able to take the lead after the restart in lap 22.  Despite his best effort, Edmiston was unable to catch Mardis who took the Hot & Nasty/Sinister Motorsports Pinto to his third main event win this season.  Rookie of the year candidate Robby Hornsby had his fifth top five finish and won his first Trophy Dash.

The Super Clean Modified Racing Series was in Lake Havasu City to officially kick off its 2009 season. Jim Mardis and Josh Gross led the field of 22 open wheel modifieds under the initial green flag. Mardis jumped into the lead and appeared to be the car and driver to beat. However, with the race close to the halfway point, Mardis started losing traction due to a worn right rear tire.

The emergence of Jim Mardis in the SuperClean Modified Racing Series has brought steady improvement to a team that didn't join the series until the final two races of the 2008 season. THE SUPERCLEAN MODIFIED RACING SEASON MAKES A SPECTACULAR SEASON DEBUT

March 31, 2009

BY DAVE GRAYSON

The Havasu 95 Speedway's reigning Modified Division champion clearly has designs on the winner's share of the SuperClean Modifed Series' regional touring points fund and proved that point with his performance during this race. Gerchman started sixth on the field, moved into second on lap 28 and began the process of eliminating the asphalt between himself and the race leader Mardis.

SUPERCLEAN MODIFIED SERIES RETURNS TO ACTION APRIL 18TH IN BLYTHE
April 13, 2009

BY DAVE GRAYSON

After an ultra successful season opener, March 28th in Lake Havasu City-Arizona, the SuperClean Modified Racing Series will once again hit the race track for round two, April 18th, at the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway located at the Colorado River Fairgrounds in Blythe-California. A full field of 22 open wheel modifieds will be lining up for 75 full green flag laps on the speedway's always challenging quarter mile, D shaped, oval. In addition to looking for the checkers the drivers will also be going after the $1,000 winner's check. The SuperClean Modified Racing Series guarantees a driver at least $250 just for starting the A main. That means qualifying, and the subsequent B Main, can often get just as intense as the 75 lap feature.

Another driver that needs to be watched during this race will be Riverside-California's Jim "Babyface" Mardis. This driver dominated the season opener last month and appeared to be on his way to his first series win. Unfortunately his right rear tire burned up on him during the latter stages of the race and he had to settle for a third place finish. Mardis ran three races late in the 2008 season while developing his new series ride and scored two top five finishes. However, based on his performance in last month's season opener, it appears that Mardis is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year.                                                                                                                                                         Full Story

Superclean Modified Racing Series: Cole Claims R&L Carriers 75 in Close Finish at Orange Show Speedway
July 11,2009

Jim Mardis won the Budweiser Pole award for setting fast time in qualifying. Mardis ripped off a lap of 13.595 seconds/66.201 MPH and set a new modified track record for the Orange Show Speedway. However, SuperClean Modified Racing Series officials introduced a new inversion procedure prior to this race. Six Lucas Oil plastic bottles were placed in a cardboard box with three of them having inversion numbers ranging from three to six. Mardis selected the bottle with the number six in it.

SUPERCLEAN MODIFIED RACING SERIES TO MAKE HIGH FLYING RETURN TO LAS VEGAS
Aug. 12, 2009

BY DAVE GRAYSON

Second in the series' standings, only two points away from the leader, is a win hungry driver named Jim Mardis. His 178 championship points is based on a very consistent three top finishes and one top ten. Mardis was a major player in the series' previous event, at the Orange Show Speedway, and came very close to scoring that first win following a very close finish. There are quite a few series observers who are saying that it's just a short matter of time before this Riverside-California driver parks his car in victory lane.

JIM MARDIS DOMINATES SUPERCLEAN MODIFIED SERIES ACTION AT HAVASU 95 SPEEDWAY
BY DAVE GRAYSON

The SuperClean Modified Racing Series spent this past Saturday night at the Havasu 95 Speedway, a quarter mile oval in Lake Havasu City-Arizona, for the running of the Sunoco Fuels 75. For the third time in a highly competitive year the series produced a first time winner. But it really came with no surprise. All season long series observers said it was just a matter of time before Jim Mardis parked his race car in victory lane. He did it in a very big way Saturday night by leading every lap of the race. In fact, Mardis' performance was so dominant he was, at times, practically racing in his own personal zip code
